It looks like a slice of Japan, but this unusual accommodation is located at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) South Centre in Bengaluru. Shipping containers have been transformed into two-bedroom units, with exteriors featuring cherry blossoms and traditional Japanese chochin lanterns. Inside, athletes find modern amenities, an LED screen showcasing Asian Games information and Japanese books, including Ikigai and Kaizen. The experience extends to food, with a menu featuring ramen, sushi, tempura and yakitori. Created to help India’s Asian Games-bound athletes acclimatise to Japanese culture, living conditions and cuisine, the facility offers a unique pre-Games experience before they travel to Japan.
