The unprecedented event, officially titled UFC Freedom 250, is scheduled to take place on June 14, 2026, on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington D.C. and is expected to become the first sporting event ever staged at the White House. The card is being organised as part of the celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence, while the date also coincides with Flag Day and the 80th birthday of US president Donald Trump. Although the event was originally linked to July 4 celebrations, reports later suggested the date was moved because of both security and logistical concerns surrounding a large-scale sporting event on Independence Day itself, with Trump personally pushing for the White House to host the UFC card. <\/p>\n The event is already shaping up to be unlike any previous UFC show. Rather than using a traditional arena setup, the promotion plans to stage the fights entirely outdoors on the White House lawn, with reports suggesting around 4,300 seats will be installed directly on the South Lawn while approximately 85,000 additional tickets could reportedly be made available for fans at nearby Ellipse Park. White has also confirmed that the event will feature a reduced seven-fight card rather than the usual 12 or 13 bouts commonly seen at numbered UFC pay-per-views. According to reports, Justin Gaethje is currently expected to challenge Ilia Topuria in the main event, while former light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira is reportedly preparing to move up to heavyweight to face Ciryl Gane for an interim heavyweight title in the absence of Tom Aspinall. Speaking during an appearance on Boardroom with Rich Kleiman, White explained that concerns over insects became immediately obvious after Trump invited him to a dinner at the Rose Garden. \u201cPresident Trump just opened the Rose Garden two nights ago and he invited me to dinner there,\u201d White said. \u201cThe amount of gnats that were flying around\u2026 I\u2019m like, \u2018Holy sh*t.\u2019\u201d White admitted the issue became serious enough that he contacted UFC production staff immediately after leaving Washington. \u201cAs soon as I got on the plane, I called my head of production and said, \u2018Yeah, let me tell you about the gnat situation tonight.\u2019\u201d The UFC president explained that the massive lighting rigs required for an outdoor pay-per-view production could attract even more insects during the fights themselves. \u201cSo when you\u2019re a fighter, think about that lighting grid, the amount of power in the lights\u2026 moths, gnats, and God knows what else,\u201d White explained. \u201cThese are all the little details that we have to think about. He later revealed the promotion has already started considering possible solutions, including large fans positioned around the cage area to disrupt the insects\u2019 flight paths. \u201cI was telling Craig, my head of production, maybe we put fans in, because gnats have a bad time in the wind,\u201d White explained.
